The 2017-2018 NGFP class.

Rear Adm. Randy Hendrickson, USN (Ret.), associate administrator for Management and Budget, welcomed 49 fellows to the 2017-2018 NNSA Graduate Fellowship Program (NGFP) June 26. NGFP is administered by the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and provides opportunities for graduate-level students to gain hands-on experience and explore careers in nuclear security across the NNSA enterprise. Fellows participate in and learn about a range of nuclear technology and policy areas, while assisting in nuclear and nonproliferation policy and decision-making.

Hendrickson welcoming the new fellows.

Frank Lowery, deputy associate administrator for Management and Budget, said to the new fellows, “Identify yourself in meetings as an NGFP fellow. Ears will perk up. People will want to hear what you have to say.” Lowery added, “Think critically. Use what you already know, but always admit what you don’t know. Ask lots of questions. And be open-minded about what program you may wind up working in. We’re looking for bright young minds in every office.”
