Brig. Gen. Stacy Jo Huser has joined NNSA as the new Principal Assistant Deputy Administrator for Military Application in the Office of Defense Programs.
Huser will assist NNSA’s Deputy Administrator for Defense Programs, Dr. Charles P. Verdon, in leading the team that directs the Stockpile Stewardship Program, which is responsible for maintaining the safety, security, and effectiveness of the Nation’s nuclear weapons stockpile.
“I am extremely excited to join the NNSA team, and I look forward to continuing our great partnership with the Department of Defense (DoD) in accomplishing the nuclear deterrence mission throughout the Nuclear Security Enterprise,” Huser said.
This key leadership position involves overseeing stockpile management activities, production modernization, and secure transportation of special nuclear materials, as well as interfacing with our DoD partners regarding requirements and deliverables.
“Gen. Huser’s extensive experience in the United States Air Force makes her a perfect match for NNSA’s Defense Programs,” Verdon said. “I look forward to working with Huser in meeting NNSA’s mission.”
Prior to joining NNSA, Huser was the Director of the Commander’s Action Group, U.S. Strategic Command, in Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska. As Director, she led an eight-member, military and civilian team directly supporting the Commander and the staff of Strategic Command. Her high-powered team aided in developing and implementing the Commander’s strategic engagement strategy, vision, and intent. Additionally, they provided strategic executive support for all domestic and international travel for distinguished visits to Strategic Command.
Huser has extensive experience in space and missile operations. She has served as a space operations crew member, instructor, and training manager, as well as an intercontinental ballistic missile combat crew commander, evaluator, and chief of emergency war order plans. She completed staff tours in the Secretary of the Air Force’s Legislative Liaison Office and at U.S. Strategic Command. She also commanded the 625th Strategic Operations Squadron, Offutt Air Force Base (AFB), Nebraska; 91st Missile Operations Group Minot AFB, North Dakota; and the 90th Missile Wing at Francis E. Warren AFB, Wyoming.
