The Western Area Power Administration, Sierra Nevada Region, is proposing to remove up to 187 hazard trees adjacent to the Malin-Round Mountain right-of-way in Modoc, Siskiyou, and Shasta Counties. Hazard trees are trees that have the potential to fall on, grow into, or otherwise compromise the integrity of the transmission lines. Western Order 450.3A dictates the removal of hazard trees in compliance with the North American Electric Reliability Council Standard FAC-003-1. Western has limited discretion on the removal of trees that meet hazard standards.
