The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) proposes to construct a snow screen system immediately adjacent to the northeast staircase of the parking garage at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) South Table Mountain (STM) campus located in Golden, Colorado.
The project involves the design and construction of a durable snow screen system, which would reduce the amount of snow that infiltrates the five levels of the northeast stairwell of the parking garage. The snow screen would be constructed from perforated rust proof metal that would aesthetically blend in with the existing parking garage structure. Structural and wind load considerations would be considered during installation as the snow screen would be physically attached to the parking garage. This project would not result in any change in the use, mission, or operation of the parking garage.
