Building 231 is a substandard 60-year old facility which has a large maintenance backlog.  The beryllium contaminated facility, per a study done in 2009, does not meet seismic safety standards.  This project would enact a series of partial moves to migrate operations out of B231, either into existing buildings, or into portions of one replacement office building and three small replacement light-science and industry laboratories in the 2200 block of LLNL Livermore Site, an area previously occupied by the old chemistry building.
