The Civil Rights Division ensures that recipients of DOE financial assistance comply with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VI); Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (Title IX); Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (Section 504); and the Age Discrimination Act of 1975 (Age Act). To forward this effort, OCR provides technical assistance to help recipients and grantees of, as well as applicants for, DOE financial assistance to understand and meet their obligations under the above statutory mandates.
