2018 Tribal Energy September Webinar: Facility- and Community-Scale Project Development

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Indian Energy, in partnership with the Western Area Power Administration (WAPA), hosted a free webinar titled “Facility- and Community-Scale Project Development” on September 26. This webinar will outline options for financing and addressing other challenges related to facility- and community-scale project development. Attendees will learn about available financing mechanisms that can allow tribes to develop projects with limited to no upfront capital costs, such as community solar models.

Presentations included:

  • A tribal case study on Seneca Energy’s wind, solar, and natural gas projects, by Anthony Giacobbe of the Seneca Nation of Indians
  • Developing solar photovoltaic projects using the Community Solar Model, by Lucas Kappel of the Bonneville Environmental Foundation
  • Demonstration of the new Tribal Energy Atlas, by Anelia Milbrandt of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.
