From the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, NNSA’s Office of Management and Budget knew they needed a new approach to in-person job fairs. These one-day hiring events feature representatives from NNSA federal offices and Management and Operating (M&O) contracting partners – all looking to fill positions in a variety of career fields across the country. So, by June 2020, merely a few months after the world seems to go virtual, they too moved to a virtual platform to continue recruitment efforts, while maintaining the health and safety of all participants.

Five NNSA Virtual Job Fairs later, thousands of hopefuls are continuing to jump at the opportunity to join the Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE). At the latest job fair held Wednesday, March 31, over 2,000 people signed up with interest to attend and nearly 1,400 registered for the event, which meant taking it a step further and uploading personal information, including resumes.

The NSE has jobs for nearly everyone who has the capacity and desire to serve and be a part of something that’s not only important, but also very rewarding.

“One of our top priorities is to recruit, develop, and mature the next generation of Nuclear Security Enterprise professionals, and the virtual job fair helps us to continue that work,” said Lewis “Lew” Monroe III, NNSA’s Director of Human Resources. “It is great news that the NSE has jobs for nearly everyone who has the capacity and desire to serve and be a part of something that’s not only important, but also very rewarding.”

The virtual lobby is where job fair participants can visit hiring booths, view information for each of NNSA’s locations, and apply directly for jobs.

For each virtual job fair, online pre-registration is available and encouraged, but same-day applicants can still register and apply. During online events, candidates can have one-on-one message chats with representatives regarding available federal and contractor positions. Candidates are also able to browse videos about the NSE’s different labs, plants, and sites during the event. There is also a virtual lobby where attendees can visit hiring booths, view information for each NSE location, and if interested, apply directly for jobs.
