Debra K. Solmonson was appointed Deputy Assistant Inspector General for Audits and Inspections - Eastern Region in October 2013.  She manages the planning, execution, and reporting for all Eastern Region audits and inspections.  She originally joined the Office of Inspector General in November 1999 as an Auditor within the Office of Audits in Oak Ridge, Tennessee and later served as the Team Leader for the Eastern Region Inspections Team.

Ms. Solmonson’s Federal government career spans multiple agencies.  She served four years in the United States Air Force as a Czechoslovakian linguist.  She also worked overseas as a Department of Army civilian serving multiple roles within the Chief Financial Officer and Defense Commissary Agency organizations.  Ms. Solmonson also worked in the Department of Energy’s Office of Science where she served as the Financial Evaluation and Accountability Division Director for five years.  In this capacity, she directed the financial management oversight program for six major Department sites with annual budgets totaling $4 billion.

Ms. Solmonson graduated from Excelsior College in Albany, New York, with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting.  She is also a graduate of the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center.
