Transmission Facilitation Program

The Department of Energy (DOE) plans to issue additional request for proposals (RFPs) moving forward.

Future RFPs may include loan and public private partnership opportunities as well as capacity contracts, including opportunities for microgrids.

Capacity contracts, public private partnerships, and loans

On February 29, 2024, GDO released a Request for Proposals (RFP) for up to $200 million for transmission projects to connect remote and isolated microgrids to existing infrastructure corridors in Alaska, Hawaii, and the territories of the United States. The deadline for applications is May 31, 2024.

 

On February 6, 2024, GDO released a Request for Proposals for a second round of capacity contracts for up to $1.2 billion. The submission deadline for the first part of the application process is March 11, 2024.
