DOE ordered Three Square Market, Inc. to pay a $8,000 civil penalty after finding Three Square Market, Inc. had failed to certify that certain models of commercial refrigeration equipment comply with the applicable energy conservation standards. The Order adopted a Compromise Agreement, which reflected settlement terms between DOE and Three Sqaure Market, Inc.
DOE alleged in a July 1, 2019 Notice of Proposed Civil Penalty that Three Square Market failed to certify certain models of commercial refrigeration equipment as compliant with the applicable energy conservation standards. DOE regulations require a manufacturer (which includes importers) to submit reports certifying that each basic model of its products have been tested and meet the applicable standards. This civil penalty notice advises the company of the potential penalties and DOE's administrative process, including the company's right to a hearing.
