DOE ordered Silver King Refrigeration, Inc. to pay a $17,200 civil penalty after finding Silver King had manufactured and distributed in commerce in the U.S. at least 86 units of noncompliant commercial freezer basic model SKF27AD/C10.  The Order adopted a Compromise Agreement, which reflected settlement terms between DOE and [company shortname].

Federal law subjects manufacturers and private labelers to civil penalties if those parties distribute in the U.S. products that do not meet applicable energy conservation standards. DOE issued a civil penalty notice on January 3, 2018, advising the company of the potential penalties and DOE's administrative process, including the company's right to a hearing.

On November 9, 2017, DOE issued a Notice of Noncompliance Determination to Silver King finding that commercial freezer basic model SKF27AD/C10 does not comply with applicable energy conservation standards based on DOE testing.  Silver King was required to notify each person (or company) to whom Silver King distributed the noncompliant products that the product does not meet Federal standards.  In addition, Silver King provided DOE documents and records showing the number of units Silver King distributed and to whom.
