DOE ordered Marey International LLC to pay a $8,000 civil penalty after finding Marey had failed to certify that certain models of water heaters comply with the applicable energy conservation standards.  The Order adopted a Compromise Agreement, which reflected settlement terms between DOE and Marey.

DOE alleged in a September 30, 2016 Notice of Proposed Civil Penalty that Marey International LLC failed to certify water heaters as compliant with the applicable energy conservation standards.  DOE regulations require a manufacturer (which includes importers) to submit reports certifying that its products have been tested and meet the applicable energy conservation standards.  This civil penalty notice advises the company of the potential penalties and DOE's administrative process, including the company's right to a hearing.
