DOE ordered Leader Refrigeration Manufacturing, Inc. to pay a $8,000 civil penalty after finding Leader had failed to certify that certain models of commercial refrigeration equipment comply with the applicable energy conservation standards.  The Order adopted a Compromise Agreement, which reflected settlement terms between DOE and Leader.

DOE alleged in a July 14, 2017 Notice of Proposed Civil Penalty that Leader Refrigeration Manufacturing, Inc. failed to certify commercial refrigeration equipment as compliant with the applicable energy conservation standards.  DOE regulations require a manufacturer (which includes importers) to submit reports certifying that its products have been tested and meet the applicable energy conservation standards.  This civil penalty notice advises the company of the potential penalties and DOE's administrative process, including the company's right to a hearing.
