DOE ordered Glastender, Inc. to pay a $8,000 civil penalty after finding Glastender had failed to certify that certain models of commercial refrigerator equipment comply with the applicable energy conservation standards.  The Order adopted a Compromise Agreement, which reflected settlement terms between DOE and Glastender.

DOE alleged in a October 13, 2017 Notice of Proposed Civil Penalty that Glastender failed to certify commercial refrigerator equipment as compliant with the applicable energy conservation standards.  DOE regulations require a manufacturer (which includes importers) to submit reports certifying that its products have been tested and meet the applicable energy conservation standards.  This civil penalty notice advises the company of the potential penalties and DOE's administrative process, including the company's right to a hearing.
