DOE ordered Cayuga Displays, Inc. to pay a $2,640 civil penalty after finding Cayuga had imported and distributed in commerce in the U.S. multiple units of noncompliant commercial refrigerators distributed under the brands Cayuga Displays and Arctica Showcase.  The Order adopted a Compromise Agreement, which reflected settlement terms between DOE and Cayuga.

On January 25, 2018, DOE issued a Notice of Noncompliance Determination to Cayuga finding that certain Cayuga Displays brand model ACTR-96-82 and Arctica Showcase brand model ASSR-96-76 commercial refrigerators do not comply with applicable energy conservation standards based on the company's own testing.  Cayuga was required to notify each person (or company) to whom Cayuga distributed the noncompliant products that the products do not meet Federal standards.  In addition, Cayuga provided DOE documents and records showing the number of units Cayuga distributed and to whom.
