Candice Robertson is serving as the Acting Associate Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Field Operations for the Office of Environmental Management (EM). In this key leadership position, Robertson has the overriding responsibility to support 16 EM field sites working across the nation to cleanup and safely disposition large volumes of nuclear waste, safeguard and prepare for disposition of nuclear materials, deactivate and decommission several thousand radiologically and chemically contaminated facilities and remediate extensive surface and groundwater contamination.
Prior to this position, Robertson served as the Chief Human Capital Officer for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) where she oversaw all aspects of human capital management for the Department’s workforce of over 13,000 federal employees. She was responsible for developing and implementing effective human capital policies and programs that enabled the department’s workforce to achieve its mission. She advised the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of Energy, and other department officials, in recruiting, developing, training, and managing a highly skilled, productive, and diverse workforce in accordance with merit system principles and all applicable statutory requirements. Prior to her appointment of Chief Human Capital Officer, she served in several key roles in DOE including serving as the Deputy Chief of staff for two Energy Deputy Secretaries and serving as the EM Associate Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Corporate Services. She has over 15 years of experience managing critical business functions in both the public and private sectors.
