• Find, qualify, and retain capable and committed contractors through accredited training programs and professional certifications.
• Ensure contractors can meet program expectations through rigorous professional certifications that validate experience and capabilities.
• Define roles, responsibilities, and skills needed for energy auditors, installers/technicians, crew leaders, and quality control inspectors through job task analyses (JTAs).
• Set uniform expectations for program execution through standard work specifications that define the outcomes of quality work.
• Reduce program costs, improve service delivery, reduce callbacks and installation errors, and lessen legal liability by delivering quality work from an improved workforce.
• Communicate credibility and inspire consumer confidence through U.S. Department of Energy support for standard work specifications, accredited training, and certification programs.
• Improve energy stability and lower energy costs for low-income families through upgraded homes and greater efficiency of U.S. housing stock.
