Weatherization professionals often have existing relationships with the local utilities, which can facilitate access to helpful data. | Photo by Warren Gretz, NREL 04893

Energy modeling software is a valuable, but inexact tool. There are simply too many variables at play in determining actual energy use and savings pre- and post-energy retrofit. To truly evaluate the performance of your buildings, you need access to utility data, which can be challenging to obtain for multifamily properties. Let the Weatherization Assistance Program’s years of experience serve you in this capacity. Many local Weatherization providers have close relationships with the utility companies because they administer the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) in 47 states and have direct access to client utility bills and electronic data sharing. Collaborate with one of these organizations to assist with utility access issues.
