Join the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) at the 2021 International Conference on Ocean Energy (ICOE) and experience this year’s ICOE from anywhere in the world!
Every two years, ICOE draws international experts from the marine energy sectors to highlight device innovation, new market developments, and regulatory frameworks helping to spur progress around the world. The 2021 conference, hosted by the National Hydropower Association and sponsored by DOE’s Water Power Technologies Office (WPTO), will be held virtually April 28-30, 2021, and the theme is “Energizing a Powerful Blue Economy.”
Representatives from WPTO and the DOE national laboratories will participate in ICOE sessions and host side events, such as the 2021 Marine Energy Collegiate Competition, over the course of the week. This page will be updated as information becomes available about these speaking engagements and side events. We hope to see you online at ICOE 2021.
ICOE Registration
Visit the ICOE 2021 website to register. Special rates are available for students as well as staff from the DOE and national labs due to WPTO’s sponsorship.
ICOE 2021 coincides with the annual Waterpower Week event. Attendees registering for Waterpower Week 2021 at the NHA Member rate will also receive access to ICOE 2021 sessions.
DOE Booth
We miss networking as much as you do! Visit DOE’s virtual booth to meet staff from WPTO and the national labs and learn about our research priorities and funding opportunities. The booth will be staffed throughout the event, during scheduled networking breaks, so stop on by!
DOE Side Events
DOE and its national laboratories will host events that are open to the public during ICOE 2021.
WPTO and NREL will host the 2021 MECC virtual pitches on April 26-27. Over the two-day event, the 16 teams will present their business pitches and detailed technology designs for their chosen markets, followed by the awards ceremony on April 29. From systems leveraging marine energy to power offshore aquaculture to wave-powered desalination systems to provide coastal communities with potable water, this year’s MECC submissions proved to impress! Catch a glimpse of the 2021 teams’ stories and visit the MECC website for information on how to watch the competition!
