FHA PowerSaver

You are here

PowerSaver is a pilot mortgage insurance/ home improvement loan program from the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) that enables homeowners to finance cost-effective, energy-saving improvements as well as solar and renewable energy systems in their homes. PowerSaver enables homeowners to borrow up to $25,000 for terms as long as 20 years to make energy improvements of their choice, based on a list of proven measures developed by FHA and the U.S. Department of Energy. Eligible improvements include solar PV and thermal systems. PowerSaver can also be used to finance solar as part of an FHA 203(k) first mortgage when purchasing a home or refinancing an existing mortgage. FHA encourages consumers to utilize an energy audit to determine the most cost-effective improvements for their home.
