Monica Sanchez joins the Biden-Harris administration with eight years of Capitol Hill experience. She most recently served as a key member of Chair Raúl M. Grijalva’s (D-Ariz.) communications team on the House Natural Resources Committee, where she worked to combat the climate crisis, elevate environmental justice, defend tribal rights and Insular areas, and protect public lands, oceans, and wildlife. A proud New Mexican, Sanchez previously served as communications and policy staff for Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) and then-Congressman Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) and began her career on Capitol Hill as a Congressional Hispanic Institute Public Policy Fellow. Sanchez is a proud Brown University alumna, where she graduated with honors in education and ethnic studies.
