The Interagency Sustainability Working Group (ISWG) is the coordinating body for sustainable federal buildings. This working group:

  • Serves as a forum for information exchange and promotes agency implementation of goals for sustainable buildings
  • Develops policy and reporting guidance to foster the widespread adoption of sustainable design and operations in the federal sector
  • Develops technical guidance and tools to support implementation of agency sustainability policies for federally owned, operated, and leased buildings
  • Provides assistance for implementing the sustainable building design requirements of Executive Order 13693: Planning for Federal Sustainability in the Next Decade.

Chaired by the Federal Energy Management Program and the General Services Administration, ISWG members include representatives from every major federal agency. To be added to the ISWG e-mail list, contact Ken Sandler.

The ISWG meets bimonthly to discuss agencywide sustainability projects and policies. Meeting information and notes are available on the FedCenter website. Once logged into FedCenter, go to the ISWG section. Other ISWG materials are available on the Sustainable Facilities Tool.
