The U.S. Department of Energy Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) presents a new training course titled Executing Utility Energy Service Contracts (UESCs): An Advanced Guide.
Karen Thomas, senior project leader at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, will offer training developed for federal energy management and contracting/acquisition personnel seeking advanced skills in executing UESC contracting, including letters of interest, justification and approval requirements, preliminary assessments, feasibility studies, performance assurance, and project execution and closeout.
By completing this course you will learn to:
- Demonstrate knowledge of UESCs and how they can help to meet site goals for energy efficiency, water efficiency, renewable power generation, and demand reduction
- Follow best practices in contracting for major UESC tasks including preliminary assessments, feasibility studies, project design and implementation processes, performance assurance, final acceptance, invoicing approval and payment processing, and project closeout
- Use FEMP/General Services Administration (GSA) templates and forms to streamline the contracting tasks associated with the development and implementation of a UESC
- Work step-by-step with your utility partner to implement a utility energy service under a GSA areawide contract or other appropriate contracting vehicle.
After completing a course evaluation and multiple-choice assessment, participants will receive a certificate of completion and be eligible for continuing education units.
FEMP training courses are designed for federal energy and facility managers, but are open to all individuals through the FEMP training database. Courses are hosted in partnership with the National Institute of Building Sciences Whole Building Design Guide.
