Dr. Matthew Garcia received his PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Kentucky, and after completing his postdoctoral work, he participated in the AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellowship for two years, at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), where he is now currently an Oak Ridge Institute of Science (ORISE) Science and Technology Policy Fellow for the Department of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) at DOE. Dr. Garcia works on the analysis of federal investments in energy and advanced manufacturing workforce training, strategic planning and  program coordination as it relates to energy education and energy workforce initiatives that support EERE and DOE’s mission and strategic plan specifically, but in general to national and international assessments and analysis of science, technology, and education policies.
