The DOE Zero Energy Ready Home program has released Revision 7 of the National Program Requirements. The “Rev.07” update reflects valuable feedback we’ve received from partners along with program adjustments to address ongoing changes in the market. The resulting updates found in Rev.07 include new alternatives to meet program requirements, new exceptions, and several clarifications. The major updates include:

  • Adding the ability for projects to use the ENERGY STAR Multifamily New Construction Program as an alternative to the ENERGY STAR Homes prerequisite to DOE ZERH

  • Updating the Envelope Insulation Requirements to the 2015 IECC. Previously this requirement referenced either the 2012 or 2015 IECC, depending on the state.

  • Adding an alternative compliance option to the Efficient Hot Water Distribution provision, in which projects meet minimum water heater efficiency levels and use WaterSense showerheads and bathroom sink faucets.

The Rev.07 National Program Requirements are available online, along with this 2-page document highlighting the key differences between Rev.07 and Rev.06.
