You are here
This high-performance home by Imery Group is the first U.S. DOE Zero Energy Ready Home certified in the state of Georgia.
With solar PV on the roof, the Home Energy Rating System (HERS) score is -10 with an expected utility bill of less than $50 a year.
The home uses high-efficiency, dual-pane windows with low-emissivity coatings.
The home’s high-efficiency appliances include an ENERGY STAR-labeled refrigerator and dishwasher.
Advanced solid-state lighting technology is installed in two-thirds of the fixtures; the remainder of the home uses high-efficiency compact fluorescents.
The solar-thermal water heater provides combustion-free hot water, while high-efficiency EPA WaterSense-rated fixtures further reduce water and energy use.
Certified low- and no-VOC finishes contribute to a healthful indoor environment.
The high-efficiency, advanced framed 2-by-6 walls are covered with an oriented strand board (OSB) sheathing product laminated with 1.5 inches of rigid foam, creating a continuous exterior thermal blanket system.
This complete dry-by-design wall includes a water barrier coated insulated sheathing taped at all seams with a moisture-resistant proprietary tape. This assembly is then wrapped with a breathable plastic mesh to form an air gap that ensures drying behind the exterior siding.
The high-efficiency window framing includes open headers above windows that allow space for insulation not possible with traditional solid wood beam window headers.
The advanced wall framing technology with 2-by-6 studs filled with 5.5 inches of open-cell spray foam deliver enhanced comfort and quiet.
An energy-saving slab edge includes R-5 rigid insulation over the raised slab foundation, which is coated with a water barrier.
