For ZERH Version 2 for Single Family Homes, all certifications must be overseen by a Home Certification Organization for the Zero Energy Ready Home program (HCO for ZERH). For ZERH Multifamily Version 2, certifications using the Performance path must be overseen by an HCO for ZERH, and certifications using the Prescriptive path must be overseen by a Multifamily Review Organization for the Zero Energy Ready Home program (MRO for ZERH). These organizations maintain the integrity and label of the ZERH program, assure education and training of raters, and provide quality assurance to mitigate the risk of noncompliance in certified homes. Any organization may apply to the ENERGY STAR Residential New Construction Program for recognition as an HCO or MRO. Any EPA-recognized HCO or MRO may apply to DOE for recognition as an HCO for ZERH or an MRO for ZERH.

Approved Certification Oversight Organizations

There are currently no DOE-recognized Certification Oversight Organizations. Application materials will be released soon. Please note that for certifications under ZERH Version 1, a DOE-recognized Certification Oversight Organization is not necessary. Instead, certifications under ZERH Version 1 will be overseen by EPA-recognized oversight organizations.
