Building Technologies Office (BTO) Director David Nemtzow will be speaking at the 2017 Washington DC Smart Cities Week, happening October 3-5. The theme of this year’s event is “Smart Infrastructure Enables Smart Cities.”

At last year’s event, BTO, the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA), ComEd, the California Commissioning Collaborative, and the Building Commissioning Associated announced a new focus on big data and smart energy analytics – which can reduce building energy consumption by 10% and improve building comfort and performance resulting in cost savings, often enabling participation in demand response programs. Nemtzow will be giving an update on outcomes from the first year of the Smart Energy Analytics Campaign, including new research, updates on industry trends, and sharing lessons learned from exemplary private sector projects.

Also speaking at the Washington DC event is Andrew Burr, a policy analyst at BTO. He will be speaking alongside researchers from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Argonne National Laboratory, and Oak Ridge National Laboratory on Smart Energy Analytics for Cities.
