Bioprose Blog

The bioeconomy is a global industrial move to sustainably use renewable aquatic and terrestrial biomass resources in energy, intermediate, and final products for economic environmental, social and national security benefits. The continued focus on growing the bioeconomy is projected to boost the productivity of agriculture and industrial processes, create jobs and economic opportunities in rural and urban communities, increase the competitiveness of the nation’s manufacturing sector, diversify sources of domestic revenue, reduce our reliance on foreign sources of energy, and enhance environmental sustainability.

Bioprose is one of several communications vehicles designed to enhance our communications efforts with the biobased community, in addition to providing valuable insight into the programs and people that contribute to the success of the bioeconomy. Written by the Bioenergy Technologies Office’s (BETO’s) diverse team of program and technology managers, the blog posts will showcase an in-depth look at the technical details of bioenergy advances currently supported by BETO and our partners.

Bioprose will provide a vehicle to link real-time industry experts with cutting-edge BETO-funded research, giving these experts the most up-to-date information on successful research and development and technical breakthroughs. The blog will also serve as a space for bioenergy industry professionals to become more aware of the capabilities of the U.S. Department of Energy’s national laboratories and their associated user facilities.

The bioeconomy will drive what could be revolutionary, sustainable bioenergy technologies for a prosperous nation, and we believe that these posts will reflect that energy and excitement. To learn more about BETO, visit our “About the Office” section. You can also follow us on Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.

Happy reading.
