Developing Innovative, Replicable Market Solutions
Better Buildings Challenge
Leadership challenge to CEOs, university presidents, state and local government leaders, manufacturers, multifamily housing, and building owners to commit their organizations to 20% energy savings in 10 years and to lead the market by sharing their solutions.
Better Plants Program
Better Plants partners with leading manufacturers and water utilities to improve energy efficiency and competitiveness in the industrial sector. Through Better Plants, partners voluntarily set a specific goal, typically to reduce energy intensity by 25% over a 10-year period across all U.S. operations.
Better Buildings Alliance
Over 165 organizations have joined this program to promote energy efficiency in commercial buildings through collaboration with building owners, operators, and managers. Alliance members partner with DOE technical experts to identify gaps and work needed to accelerate the adoption of greater energy efficiency.
Better Buildings Accelerators
Better Buildings Accelerators are designed to demonstrate specific innovative policies and approaches that will accelerate investment in energy efficiency upon successful demonstration. Each Accelerator is a targeted, short-term, partner-focused activity designed to address persistent barriers that stand in the way of efficiency.
50001 Ready's award-winning program enables organizations to implement an energy management system (EnMS) that aligns to the international ISO 50001:2018 energy management standard. The program helps identify energy and capital savings and establish data-driven processes to ensure scalable savings that persist.
Home Energy Score™
A tool to help homeowners and homebuyers understand how much energy a home is expected to use and to provide suggestions for improving its energy efficiency. The Home Energy Score is based on a standard assessment of energy-related assets to easily compare energy use across the housing market.
Better Buildings Residential Network
350+ member organizations focused on accelerating the pace of energy upgrades in existing homes by sharing best practices and learning from one another. The Better Buildings Residential Network connects energy-efficiency programs and partners to increase the number of energy-efficient homes.
Demonstrating Market Leadership
Together, participants in the Better Buildings Initiative have saved over 2.2 quadrillion Btu of energy and more than $13 billion since the program began. View the latest Progress Report.
