Absorption Chillers for CHP Systems (DOE CHP Technology Fact Sheet Series) – Fact Sheet, 2017

You are here

Chillers are used in commercial buildings and industrial plants to provide air conditioning, refrigeration, and process fluid cooling. An absorption chiller—one of several available chiller technologies—is often exhaust fired using thermal energy recovered from combined heat and power (CHP) systems, such as reciprocating engines, microturbines, and combustion turbines. This fact sheet provides an overview of absorption chiller technology, its performance characteristics, and costs.
