Work Planning and Control Assessment at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Worker Safety and Health Assessments, within the independent Office of Enterprise Assessments, conducted an assessment of work planning and control (WP&C) and selected elements of the contractor assurance system and feedback and improvement at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, which is operated by UT-Battelle, LLC. Work activities including research and maintenance were observed within the Radiochemical Engineering Development Center, the Chemical Sciences Division, the Facilities Management Division, and the Utilities Division. This assessment was conducted within the broader context of a series of targeted assessments of WP&C at sites across the DOE complex. The onsite portions of this assessment were conducted January 14-18 and 28-31, 2019.
