Construction Quality and Startup Assessment at the Hanford Site Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant

The U.S. Department of Energy Office of Nuclear Safety and Environmental Assessments, within the independent Office of Enterprise Assessments (EA), conducted an assessment of construction quality and startup activities at the Hanford Site Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant (WTP). The onsite portion of this assessment was conducted from February 4 to 13, 2019. This assessment was performed within the broader context of an ongoing program of assessments at DOE major construction projects. Because of the safety significance of WTP facilities, EA plans to continue these ongoing periodic assessments at the WTP construction site to ensure that construction contractors meet the requirements of 10 CFR 830, Subpart A, Quality Assurance Requirements.
