Deputy Director, Office of Enforcement
Lawrence Denicola is the Deputy Director of the Office of Enforcement within the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Enterprise Assessments (EA). The Office of Enforcement implements DOE’s congressionally-authorized regulatory enforcement program in the areas of nuclear safety, worker safety and health, and classified information security. Mr. Denicola’s prior assignments in DOE include serving as a compliance officer in EA's Office of Worker Safety and Health Enforcement and as a safety assessor in the Office of Independent Oversight.
Mr. Denicola’s experience includes serving as the Director of the Environmental and Occupational Safety and Health Division for the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Carderock, Maryland; Director of the Safety and Environmental Division for the Architect of the Capitol; Program Manager for Audits, Assessments, and Inspections for the National Institute of Standards and Technology; and Director of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Asbestos Control Office. In addition, he served as an environmental compliance coordinator for the U. S. Postal Service, and managed a branch office for an environmental, safety, and health consulting firm. Mr. Denicola also served as a commissioned officer in the Naval Civil Engineer Corps, with assignments as the Assistant Public Works Officer at the David Taylor Naval Ship Research and Development Center and as the Assistant Environmental Officer at the Naval Energy and Environmental Support Activity.
Mr. Denicola holds a Master of Engineering degree in environmental pollution control from Penn State University and a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. He is a Certified Safety Professional and a registered Professional Engineer.
