Cate Hurley is the Principal Deputy Speechwriter for the Office of Public Affairs at the U.S. Department of Energy. Previously, she served as a Deputy Speechwriter within the same office. Cate was most recently Press Secretary for U.S. Representative Adam Schiff. Previously, she served in DOE's Office of Public Affairs as Special Assistant and on the staff of the the Biden-Harris campaign in Arizona, the 2020 Democratic National Convention, and Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti. She graduated from the University of Southern California with a B.A. in political science and narrative studies and is from Pasadena, California.
