Katie Hazlett serves as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary at the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs.  In that role, she advises the Assistant Secretary for the Office of Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs in supporting the Secretary of Energy, the Department, and the Administration’s policies, before Congress, while managing and overseeing the Intergovernmental and External Affairs engagement activities.   Katie also served as Chief of Staff for DOE’s Office of the Chief Financial Officer.

Katie has nearly 15 years of experience in advancing legislative and public policy initiatives through the U.S. Congress.  Prior to joining DOE, Katie was Chief of Staff for Congressman Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-NJ-11), the Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations, and senior advisor to the Committee on Appropriations.  She staffed the Chairman through multiple subcommittee chairmanships including the Subcommittee on Energy and Water Development, which funds DOE.  She began her career interning for her hometown Congressman, former Representative Jim Saxton (R-NJ-3).

Katie holds a M.A. from Johns Hopkins University and a B.A. from The Catholic University of America.
