Ms. Shari Davenport serves as the Deputy Chief Information Officer for Resources Management for the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). As the Deputy CIO for Resources Management, Ms. Davenport enables and supports the business and mission of the OCIO by effectively overseeing all administrative functions of the office, including formulating and executing the budget, developing IT acquisition strategies, and contract management. She also manages the enterprise-wide agreement program to leverage the Department’s buying power for IT goods and services, implements workforce planning initiatives for the Department's IT workforce.

Most recently, Ms. Davenport served as Acting Associate Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Corporate Services and Deputy Chief for the Office of Environmental Management (EM). Ms. Davenport was responsible for leading and overseeing the strategic corporate operations and essential business services necessary to support and enable the $6.5 billion EM cleanup program including resource management, acquisition and project management and internal and external communications.

Ms. Davenport previously served as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for DOE’s Office of Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs (CI). In that role she provided strategic advice to the Secretary and departmental leadership on engagement with the U.S. Congress, state, tribal, city and county governments, other federal agencies and key external stakeholders, enhancing the Department’s relationship with these decision-makers.

Ms. Davenport also served as the Chief Operating Officer for DOE CI where she was responsible for the management, coordination, and integration of CI operations. She began her DOE career as EM’s Director of Communications and External Affairs where she led the program’s communication activities and external engagement with Congress, state, local, tribal governments and public stakeholders. 

Prior to joining DOE, Ms. Davenport spent over eight years working for members of Congress and congressional leadership in advancing their legislative agendas. She served as the Appropriations Director and Deputy Chief of Staff while working for Congressman Peter Visclosky during his Chairmanship of the House Energy and Water Development Appropriations Subcommittee. In conjunction with the committee, Ms. Davenport coordinated the Chairman's priorities in the annual appropriations bill, providing recommendations on policy and funding decisions on energy security, nuclear nonproliferation, environmental management, scientific research, as well as water resource improvements. 

Ms. Davenport began her congressional work with Congressman Robert T. Matsui from California focusing on appropriations, transportation and education issues. She then served as Legislative Director to Congresswoman Doris Matsui with a dual role as House Rules Committee Associate Staff. 

Ms. Davenport holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California - Riverside.
