Mr. Robert Green is the Principal Deputy Chief Information Officer (CIO).
He provides strategic direction and operational guidance for cybersecurity, enterprise information resources management, records management, privacy, data collection, paperwork reduction, spectrum, capital planning and investment control, cyber supply chain risk management, FITARA, e-Gov, and DOE-HQ information technology (IT) operations.
As the Principal Deputy CIO, he leads DOE IT modernization efforts focused on the development and provisioning of services that are reliable, robust, and cost effective. Mr. Green is actively engaged in integrating DOE enterprise-wide automated cyber information sharing and advanced threat analytics capability to ensure real-time enterprise cyber situational awareness and incident response. He is also strengthening cybersecurity fundamentals to include strong multifactor authentication, network and privileged user access segmentation, advanced continuous monitoring, and automated vulnerability identification.
Previously, Mr. Green was a Senior Advisor to the CIO focusing on IT modernization analysis and implementation. Mr. Green also served as Deputy CIO for Information Technology for the National Nuclear Security Administration, where in July 2008, he was awarded the NNSA Excellence Medal by the NNSA Administrator.
A career member of the Senior Executive Service, Mr. Green has over 31 years of federal service.
