Today at the Energy Department’s Biomass 2013 annual conference in Washington, D.C., Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz spoke about the importance of investing in clean, renewable energy like biofuels to combat the effects of climate change and reduce our dependence on foreign oil.
Secretary Moniz highlighted the Energy Department’s work to advance biofuels -- from supporting biorefineries to ARPA-E’s investment in high-impact biofuel technology to the Department’s three Bioenergy Research Centers. As part of the Department’s continued commitment, Secretary Moniz announced $22 million in new investments to help develop cost-competitive algae fuels and streamline the biomass feedstock supply chain for advanced biofuels.
