Washington, D.C. - At the direction of President Obama, as part of the Administration's ongoing oil spill response efforts U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu is making his fifth trip to Houston today to continue to help identify strategies for containing the oil and ultimately killing the well.

Secretary Chu and his scientific team are coordinating their work with National Incident Commander Admiral Thad Allen, who is leading the administration-wide response and directing all interagency activities.  Information on the work that the Secretary, Department of Energy staff and independent scientists have done to date on the oil spill response can be found on DOE's BP Oil Spill page.
