Boulder, Colorado -- As wind turbine capacity continues to grow, so does the need to test the electrical and mechanical power-producing components of those turbines. Currently, only a few test facilities worldwide have the capability to test wind turbine drivetrains with capacity ratings up to 5 megawatts--and DOE's National Wind Technology Center at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory is now one of them.
Following Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz's visit to the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), the Energy Department today announced the unveiling of a one-of-its-kind national secure data center dedicated to the independent analysis of advanced hydrogen and fuel cell technologies at the Energy Department's Energy Systems Integration Facility (ESIF) located at NREL in Golden, Colorado.
Watch Secretary Moniz's remarks at the opening of the new Energy Systems Integration Facility -- a site aimed at overcoming generation, transmission and distribution issues that will help support clean, renewable energy technologies.
This interactive workshop will walk participants through five steps to help tribes understand the process for and potential pitfalls of developing community- and facility-scale renewable energy projects. Attendees will learn how the development of a renewable energy project could further a tribe’s goals, and hear from other tribes about their experiences.
