The Indiana Department of Environmental Management and the Water Pollution Control Board are tasked with the prevention of pollution in the waters of the state. The Board may adopt rules and regulations governing the release of potentially harmful substances into state waters. This statute contains additional provisions regarding the release of hazardous materials, livestock manure management and wastewater management practices, groundwater protection, permitting for coal mine operations, and state regulated wetlands. Active regulations can be found in Titles 327 and 330 of the Indiana Administrative Code, while pending regulations can be found on the Water Pollution Control Board's website.
