The City of Palo Alto's "Business New Construction Rebate Program" provides financial incentives for commercial, municipal, and school buildings built to the program's energy efficiency standards. To qualify for the new construction incentive, facilities must exceed the efficiency requirement set by Title 24 of the California Code of Regulations by at least 20%. For buildings that are 20% to 30% more efficient than Title 24, electric incentives are provided on a sliding scale (ex: 22.3% above Title 24 = $0.223/kWh saved; 26.4% above Title 24 = $0.264/kWh; etc.). Buildings that are more than 30% more efficient than Title 24 requirements will be provided rebates of $0.30/kWh saved. The "Systems Approach" provides rebates based on Palo Alto's custom rebate program, and is applicable to facilities that exceed Title 24 by at least 15%. For more information, including program applications and access to Palo Alto green building ordinances, visit the utility's website or contact Palo Alto.
