Under Secretary of Energy to Participate in 14th Diesel Engine-Efficiency and Emissions Research Conference
 
WASHINGTON – On Monday, August 4, 2008, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Under Secretary Clarence H. “Bud” Albright, Jr. will deliver remarks at the Diesel Engine-Efficiency and Emissions Research Conference.  Under Secretary Albright is expected to highlight the importance of diversifying our nation’s energy supplies and the critical role diesel technologies play in increasing energy efficiency in the transportation sector.

DOE has funded research for numerous technologies that have accelerated the development of diesel engines and improved their commercial viability.  Light-duty diesel engines are poised to address issues of growing importance to the American public: improved fuel economy and lower greenhouse gas emissions.  The DEER Conference is an opportunity to highlight DOE-funded research and development and has become a choice venue for engineers and scientists to exchange information and transfer technology more rapidly into the marketplace.
