U.S. Under Secretary of Energy Travels to Austin, Texas For Solar Energy Roundtable with Senator Cornyn

WASHINGTON - On Tuesday, May 27, 2008, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Under Secretary Clarence “Bud” Albright, Jr. will deliver remarks at a solar energy roundtable and media availability hosted by U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-Texas) in Austin, Texas. Under Secretary Albright will recognize the city of Austin’s achievements as a Department of Energy Solar America City, and is expected to highlight the Department’s solar energy initiatives, which further President Bush’s comprehensive energy policy aimed at diversifying the nation’s energy sources to increase energy security and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Solar America Cities are large cities that represent a diversity of geography, population, and the maturity of their solar infrastructure.  Cities are selected based on their plan and commitment to a comprehensive, city-wide deployment of solar technologies.  Their efforts will improve the ability of citizens and businesses to adopt solar technology, and will provide a model that other cities across the country can follow.
