Secretary of Energy at Colorado Summit to Announce 2008 Solar America Cities

WASHINGTON, DC - On Friday, March 28, 2008, U.S. Secretary of Energy Samuel W. Bodman will deliver remarks at the New Frontiers in Energy Summit 2008 in Denver, Colorado.  Secretary Bodman is expected to announce DOE’s 2008 Solar America Cities, and to highlight the Department’s solar energy initiatives, which further President Bush’s comprehensive strategy of diversifying the nation’s energy sources to increase energy security and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.  Senator Ken Salazar (D-CO), a co-sponsor of the Summit, will join Secretary Bodman.

Solar America Cities are large cities that represent a diverse geography, population, and maturity of solar infrastructure.  Cities were selected based on their plan and commitment to a comprehensive, citywide approach to the deployment of solar technologies.  Their efforts will improve the ability of citizens and businesses to adopt solar technology locally, and will provide a model that other cities across the country can follow.  Learn more about Solar America Cities.
