| WASHINGTON, DC – On Wednesday, February 27, 2008, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Andy Karsner will deliver keynote remarks at the Cleantech Forum XVI in San Francisco. There, he is expected to announce the selection of venture capital firms to participate in DOE’s Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR) program, which will bring sponsored entrepreneurs into three of DOE’s National Laboratories to develop plans to commercialize new clean energy technologies. Assistant Secretary Karsner is also expected to highlight the Bush Administration’s commitment to reducing the nation’s reliance on foreign oil by diversifying energy sources in the interest of energy, economic, and national security.
*NOTE: To request media credentials into the Cleantech Forum, contact Ellen Luttrell, (202) 403-4130. DOE’s EIR program seeks to identify and develop business cases to commercialize promising laboratory technology and give proven start-up entrepreneurs the opportunity to work directly with technical management and staff at DOE’s national laboratories. The entrepreneurs in residence will identify technologies that, when commercialized in private sector companies, will further the President’s Advanced Energy Initiative, which aims to identify clean energy solutions for the entire nation and set the U.S. on the path to greater energy security.
