The Office of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability (OE) has worked with industry and other stakeholders to develop the Energy Storage Safety Strategic Plan, a roadmap for grid energy storage safety that highlights safety validation techniques, incident preparedness, safety codes, standards, and regulations. The Plan also makes recommendations for near- and long-term actions.

The Office of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability has released two reports on energy storage safety: “Overview of Development and Deployment of Codes, Standards and Regulations Affecting Energy Storage System Safety in the United States” and “Inventory of Safety-Related Codes and Standards for Energy Storage Systems.” Both reports were produced by Pacific Northwest National Laboratory as part of OE’s Energy Storage Safety Initiative.
