Statement from Secretary of Energy Samuel W. Bodman Regarding EIA’s Updated Annual Energy Outlook

WASHINGTON, DC – Earlier today the Department of Energy's Energy Information Administration released their Annual Energy Outlook 2008. Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman made the following statement regarding the EIA’s Annual Energy Outlook which forecasts to 2030:

“EIA’s updated forecast projecting higher oil prices and increased demand reinforces the Department of Energy’s commitment to the development of safe, clean, affordable, and diverse sources of energy. The President’s initiatives focusing on increased domestic energy production, more energy efficiency, and clean energy technologies will enhance our energy security and help us to face this new energy reality.

“Our programs and policies will help to spur new energy infrastructure investments, the expansion of nuclear power; responsible use of coal through investments in clean coal technology; and the increasing use of renewable and alternative fuels to change the way we power our lives.”
